Introducing X-Rite i1Profiler-RGB exclusively for Overdrive
ColorBurst Systems has partnered with X-Rite to provide a printer profiling solution exclusively to our Overdrive RIP users. Overdrive was designed to provide accurate color with standard RGB ICC profiles, so most Overdrive users will never need to build a custom ICC profile. But for high-end gallery prints or proofing, where color accuracy is critical, you may wish to fine-tune your color beyond what Overdrive delivers automatically. X-Rite's i1Profiler-RGB software gives you that control, using your X-Rite spectrophotometer. Learn more

Overdrive for Mac pricing is going up March 1
Overdrive for Mac OS X was introduced almost three years ago at a low introductory price. Since then, Overdrive has matured into a powerful replacement for our now discontinued X·series RIPs.
Overdrive pricing will revert to our old X·Proof pricing on March 1, 2013. The good news is that Overdrive includes features previously only offered in X·Proof Plus, including job titles, standard and custom color bars, and custom (non-Pantone) spot color matching (a $200 value). Overdrive is also offered in a 44" wide version, which was never offered with X·Proof (a 64" license was required).

Overdrive 2.0 is ready to redefine inkjet RIP software expectations. Gone are the days of complicated color management workflows and tedious ICC profiling to add a new paper. Overdrive 2.0 works on top of your printer’s driver and RGB paper profiles to make accurate color automatic and effortless. Now a 64-bit Cocoa application, Overdrive 2 offers significantly faster processing, a new visual interface, and improved print quality. Pantone matching and Adobe Black Point Compensation are also included. A 15-day demo of Overdrive 2 is now available, and lower introductory pricing makes Overdrive 2 a tremendous value. As a thank you to our current Overdrive 1 users, Overdrive 2.0 is a free upgrade - simply use your version 1 serial number to run version 2.
ColorBurst Systems performed internal testing of the upcoming Overdrive 2.0 RIP to determine color accuracy on the Epson 7890 large format inkjet printer. After making a custom RGB profile, an IT8.7/4 target was printed to a reference of a #1 press sheet. The Delta E(ab) total average for 1617 patches was 0.78. This was slightly more accurate than testing with Overdrive 1 (results were 0.86) and well within industry standards of a maximum average of 1.5. With this level of color accuracy, Overdrive 2 will be an excellent choice for high-end color proofing.
Overdrive 2, still in development, is shaping up to be a significant improvement over Overdrive 1 in both speed and print quality, especially text. As a thank you to our current Overdrive users, we are offering a free upgrade to Overdrive 2.0 when it is released in 2012. Free upgrades will be offered at the same size as the Overdrive 1 license (for example, Overdrive 17" v1 will be upgraded to Overdrive 17" v2). Full upgrade details will be available when version 2.0 is released.
The software engineers at ColorBurst Systems anticipate a release of Overdrive 2.0 in January 2012. This new version has been completely rewritten from scratch as a 64-bit Cocoa application for Mac OS X 10.6 and later. Overdrive 2 is based on a completely different architecture that will take full advantage of today’s multi-processor computers. Initial tests of Overdrive 2 show files are processing much faster than compared to Overdrive 1. Stay tuned for more details!
Overdrive version 1.2.8 is now available for download. This update establishes a procedure for printing to the Epson Stylus Pro 4900 and includes fixes for several problems. Please refer to the release notes for detailed information.
Overdrive 1.2 is now available with Adobe® Black Point Compensation built-in for automatic optimization of the black tonal range. The black point compensation results achieved by Overdrive are an exact match to Adobe Photoshop's black point compensation, so Photoshop users can get the results they expect from Overdrive.
The first official version of ColorBurst Overdrive is now available! Download Overdrive and try a full-featured "Test Drive" for 15 days. The demo, along with product information and pricing, is available at www.overdriverip.com.
ColorBurst Systems performed internal testing of their new Overdrive RGB RIP to determine color accuracy on the new Canon iPF8300 large format inkjet printer. After making a custom RGB profile, an IT8.7/4 target was printed to a reference of a #1 press sheet. The Delta E(ab) total average for 1617 patches was 0.86. This is well within industry standards of a maximum average of 1.5, proving Overdrive to be capable of high-end color proofing.
A pre-release version of Overdrive named "ColorBurst RGB XProof" has been deemed the winner in the RIP category in the 2010 DIMA Digital Printer Shoot-Out. This early version of Overdrive made the winning prints in the following six categories:
• Inkjet, 9 to 17 inches wide
• Media, 13-by-19-inch sheet or 13-inch roll
• Media, 24 inches wide or larger
• Media, Matte Only
Entries were judged on print quality and color accuracy, including neutral gray balance, highlight and shadow detail, skin tone accuracy, and text quality. ColorBurst Systems is excited to release the Overdrive RGB RIP for Mac OS X with these credentials.
